What
Kind of Ghillie Suit Should You Buy?
Quality
ghillie suits can cost upwards of $100.00. There
are cheaper ghillie suits but many of these products aren’t worth the little
money spent. The best suits are made
from either burlap and jute or synthetic ultra-lightweight material.
Some of these newer designs are scentless, mildew-resistant, water
resistant, and hand washable.
The
first aspect to consider is if you want to buy a full suit, which includes
camouflaged pants, a poncho or jacket and headpiece, or just one item at a time.
Most hunters have found that a full suit is most effective and can
actually fool animals just as easily as other humans.
Going into a hunt wearing just camouflaged pants would probably not be
very effective in fooling wild game, and may actually traumatize the wildlife in
similar fashion to those children who saw headless characters at
Disneyland
.
Should
you opt for an ultra-light suit or more traditional burlap selections?
Keep in mind that ultra-light suits are often more expensive, whereas
traditional suits can be bulky and become extremely hot in summer months.
There are also several ghillie suit “themes” to choose from,
including suits that match different terrains such as snow, forest, bushes,
desert plains, moss and more.
Comfort
is important, so if you’re buying a ghillie suit for paintball bet on the
synthetic lightweight version, as human scents won’t mean too much in this
context. However, if you are hunting
game then it may be worth sticking with burlap and jute (and rolling your suit
around in the dirt) to better deceive your prey.
Military and police work would require a fine balance between both
comfortable and invisible, since a person’s life would depend on quick
maneuvering without detection.
Whether
you are shopping for ghillie suits in fun, for business or for sporting hobby,
SniperGhillies.com has a wide selection of ghillie suits and other hunting
products to choose from.
